Key Stage 1
Year 1
In Year 1, our children make the important transition from the Early Years into Key Stage 1, where they begin following the National Curriculum for the first time. During this exciting stage, they continue to work hard as they build on their early learning experiences and develop greater independence in their learning. There is a strong emphasis on phonics and preparation for the Phonics Screening in the summer term, helping children to become confident and fluent readers. Alongside this, they enjoy a wide range of fun, engaging, and hands-on learning opportunities across the curriculum. Through practical activities, exploration, and creativity, they deepen their understanding and grow in confidence as enthusiastic and curious learners.
