Important Update from Head of School

Important changes to bubbles

Dear Parents and Carers,

In order to reduce the number of children self-isolating when a positive case of Covid-19 is reported at The Willows, we have made the decision to make the change from year group bubbles to class bubbles from Year 1 upwards.

In order for us to keep children in class bubbles, we will be making a number of changes in school. These will include changes to the organisation of lunchtimes and playtimes. Due to the size of our school, and the number of changes that need to be made, we are currently working hard to ensure we have everything we need in place for Thursday 10th December when all children will be back in school.

There may be times when children across classes need to be together for interventions or small group work e.g. phonics lessons. We will try to ensure that where possible, children from different classes are kept an appropriate distance apart during these times. Seating plans will also be in place.

We are unable to operate in class bubbles in Nursery or Reception due to our open plan classrooms and shared learning environments. We will continue to ensure that strict hygiene routines are in place and close contact between children is discouraged.

In order for our plan to be effective, we would appreciate your support. Please ensure that you do not arrive on the school grounds until your child’s drop off time and please do not allow your child to mix with children from other classes outside of the school building, including on the school grounds. If you need to speak to your child’s class teacher please leave a message with the adult on the door or contact the school office and the teacher will call you as soon as possible.

Although we will try our best to reduce the number of children learning from home in the event of a confirmed case, we cannot guarantee that only one class will be sent home. This will depend on the circumstances around each positive case.

A copy of our updated Risk Assessment will be sent to all parents via email before Thursday 10th December. It will also be available on our website.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Thank you for your continued support during these challenging times.
